The Dance Party at the Artisphere

The Dance Party at the Artisphere

I Bet You’re Kid Has Never Been to a Dance Party Like This!

The whole family attended the Artisphere’s Family Day featuring Baby Loves Disco on November 2nd. I’ve been trying to go to one of these dance parties but the timing just never worked. I’m so happy that I saw the post from DC Thrifty Mom about this event and knew it was our time! Seeing that at our calendar was cleared, I yelled, “Yes! We are going!” Here’s how it went..

Parking: Was the absolute worst! The building is surrounded by crowded street parking and parking garages. Most parking garages had a cost of about $8-$10 per hour so I guess that’s okay. However, we circled around about 4 times until we found a spot on the street.

The Event: Entering into the event, we were greeted and asked to enter a raffle. In addition, there was information about the museum itself. In the atrium area, there was several tables for children to color pictures and a bar area where light snacks could be purchased. Into the main room, we entered the dance party. Baby Loves Disco had the kids on there feet with a 13 year old DJ, bubbles and plastic shakers! Along the sides of the room, there was an incredible balloon artist (Balloons by Brenda) and a few vendors including Relay Foods, Tiny Toes, and an organic snack company. There were free samples of snacks as well as complementary Honest juices for the kids. Upstairs there was a movie showing of a number of classic Looney Tunes cartoons. My kids did not want to leave and pouted when we wanted to move on. There were other activities including, craft making, play areas with toys and more.

Con: I do have one issue with Baby Loves Disco….Some of the songs that were played included the somewhat explicit/radio versions where curse words were not eliminated. My suggestion, use the Kids Bop version!

Overall the event went really well and I’m happy that we made it! The kids said that they had a really good time and our 2 year old kept saying, “I wanna dance!” What a lasting impression!
