Shout out to the 80 and 90 degree weather this week! We’ve spent a lot of time outdoors this week and the upcoming days will be no different! On this weekend’s agenda is Day Out with Thomas, Fun at the National Harbor, Annual Children’s Book Fair in Baltimore and so much more!  As always, check the event site before heading out!

Thomas & Friends are spending some time at the B&O Railroad Museum for the Day Out with Thomas 2018 Big Adventures Tour!

Flight Deck at National Harbor – Baltimore
Costume Contest for the entire family and receive $4 Capital Wheel Rides and $4 drafts from Flight Deck. 7:30 PM there will be a costume contest on the plaza with a chance to win free Capital Wheel rides for a year! The contest categories are Best Costume & Best Crew.

6th Annual African American Children’s Book Fair
Reginald F Lewis Museum – Baltimore
May 5; 10am – 4pm

A book fair focused on kids’ literature about African Americans and people of other ethnicities. Author readings, illustration workshops, live performances, and art activities.

Around the World Embassy Open House

Embassy Row – DC
Visit Embassies for FREE! More than 40 embassies will open their door. Participants can travel the world as they experience the food, art, dance, fashion, and music of different countries.

Mobile Library Birthday Bash

Laurel Springs Regional Park – La Plata
Celebrate the Mobile Library’s anniversary with games, stories, music and cake.

Solomons Maritime Festival
May 5; 10am – 5pm
Calvert Marine Museum – Solomons
Taste traditional foods, learn how to pick crabs and shuck oysters, music groups, model boats, talk with traditional crafts people as they demonstrate their skills. Free 30-minute cruises on the Wm. B. Tennison.

Prince George’s Food Truck Frenzy
May 5; 11am – 3pm
Watkins Park – Upper Marlboro
Family event with fun games, music, and food trucks with local Prince George’s County small businesses.

Free Swim Lesson Day
May 6; 1 – 5:15pm
Donald M Wade Aquatic Center – Waldorf

Introductory level swim lesson for FREE! Pre-registration required.

Family Movies on the Potomac featuring Coco
May 6; 6 – 8pm
National Harbor

Enjoy an evening at the Plaza with lawn chairs and blankets to watch the movie “Coco.”


Don’t miss your chance to sing along, laugh and be moved by the iconic musical The Wiz now showing at Ford’s Theatre until May 12th.
