Mazda’s CX-9 Was Made for Families
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby with a huge car seat and a back seat full of necessities. As the family grows, so does your transportation needs and that’s when the new car conversation starts. The struggle is real, trying to figure out if you want a truck, mini-van or my preference, an SUV. You want something stylish but comfy, a bit of technology integration and enough space to store luggage, groceries and anything else your Littles collect over time (luggage is only a fraction of what we take on road trips nowadays).
We had the pleasure of cruising around in the Mazda CX-9 and it blew our minds! We couldn’t stop gawking over its many features; not to mention, my kids had enough space to clone themselves twice! Here’s what we loved:
Style – The CX-9 has an attractive and sleek exterior design that makes heads turn. As I drove through the streets, people were literally checking me out. It was a little weird at first but I got use to it. It’s two toned leather interior and real rosewood trim screams elegance and has a recognizable quality.
Space and Comfort – This 7-passenger crossover has 3 rows of seating, yes 3 rows. Working from the front to the back: The driver and front passenger seats have ample arm and leg room. Dual air controls assist in comfort, not to mention the heated seats and the ability to customize your driving style. I also want to point out that the 3-zone automatic climate control features a pollen filter. There will be no complaining about space in the back either. The second row has captain-like seating that not only adjust but also recline. We found the retractable window shades to be our saving grace during our 95-degree days. Since my kids aren’t use to a third row, I was happy to see that the seat levers were easy to pop up and they could climb in the back on their own. We managed to test the cargo area by loading up groceries, boxes and even made a trip to the hardware store in one swoop.
Performance – If you have a slight need for speed like me, you’d be happy to know that the CX-9 has a 2.5 Liter Turbo charged engine with Sport Mode. We’re talking about the power of a big engine but the fuel efficiency of a small one. Having driven crossovers and SUV’s, none of them handled quite like this one. Our ride was very smooth and every person that hopped in had nothing but great things to say.
Features – I can’t say enough about the features but I’ll try to make it short and sweet. Mazda chose Bose for the surround sound system and boy did they get it right. When I dropped the kids off, I queued up the music and to my surprise the sound quality was not lost. Nope, no hissing or overbearing bass. It came fully loaded with all the navigation bells and whistles including XM and HD radio, integration with multiple internet radio options, text messaging, Bluetooth, voice command, a rear view camera and so much more. Embedded USB and auxiliary ports make mobile on the go less stressful. One of my favorite features is the Active Driving Display. With this feature you can view your driving speed as well as the speed limits in your front windshield.
Safety – You can tell that safety and security of the passengers was one of Mazda’s top priorities with the CX-9. Most notable was the blind spot warnings, break support systems, keep lane assist, lane warning departure and the front lighting system, which improves visibility when driving around corners. We felt super safe and appreciated the extra warning systems.
Mazda’s new CX-9 was made to please families of many different sizes. If car shopping is in your future, be sure to stop by your local Mazda dealer and give it a test drive! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
