Discovery Lane preschool is excited to host the first Annual Community Book Fair. Serving as the only Reggio Emilia preschool in Southern Maryland, Discovery Lane opens its doors to families in Charles County to encourage a lifetime love for reading. This free event will take place on Saturday, March 4,  from 11am-2pm. Vendors will offer a selection of high quality books that are diverse and representative of the community.

Exposure to early literacy supports young learners with their appreciation for reading and writing. Children are impressionable and emerging skills are scaffold by early messages.  Books encourage children to gain information and stimulate their imagination and offer wonderment and acclimation to new experiences. Reading books aloud to children support their development of language, listening skills, and appreciation of books. Early experiences to literacy impact later school success and children overall cultivate a love for learning.
