A Weekend Full of Love- Maryland Family Events: Feb 12-15

Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and a three day weekend? Count us in for some awesome events and activities this weekend! From special events at Port Discovery to the Teddy Bears’ Picnic at the College Park Arts Exchange, there’s something for the Littles to enjoy! Where are you heading out to this weekend? Journey to the musical cosmos in Arts on the Horizon’s world-premiere piece for babies and toddlers, Space-Bop! Drawing on a little one’s early love of light and vocal play, Space-Bop takes place under the starry sky and features a GRAMMY®-nominated hip-hop artist and beatboxer, a Chaplinesque hero, and the endearing denizens of outer space, like a pinwheel comet and a glowing star. In Arts on the Horizon’s signature multi-sensory, nonverbal style. Best for ages 0-2. Fee:$6

Tell a Tale Mommy & Me Yoga. 11-11:30am. Evolve Yoga Wellness Studio. California
Playful yoga poses, animated breathing exercises and relaxation techniques teach 3 to 6 year olds about their growing bodies. Sprinkled with music, games, stories and age-appropriate props. Ages 3-6. $9 per session

Little Jumpers. 10am-12pm. Pump it Up. Waldorf
This special open jump is for our guests aged 1-6 years old only. If you’re worried about older kids running around the smaller ones, this is the perfect time for your little jumpers. Ages 1-6. Fee $5.50.

Preschool STEM Explorers: Project Wild. 10:30-11:30am Leonardtown Library. Leonardtown. 
Experiment with natural materials and learn about local ecosystem.

Sweet Heart’s Preschool Prom. 6-8pm.  Somers Community Center. Laplata
You’re never too young to get dressed up and have a great time! Join us for a night to remember with your sweetheart. Begin your night by walking down the red carpet followed by dancing, games, light refreshments, and many prom photo opportunities. At the end of the night the Prom King’s and Queen’s parade will take place. Ages 2-6.  Fee:$15; $20 at the Door

Engineering the Dream: Engineering Workshop. 9am-3pm. Southern Technical Recreation Complex. Fort Washington
Has your child ever dreamed about becoming an aerospace engineer, software engineer, audio engineer, or civil engineer? If so, don’t miss out on this action-packed, interactive day full of games and hands-on projects! Includes lunch. Ages 5-12. Fee: $25-$30

The DIY arts and crafts icon from the 80’s is back! And, nothing says “love” like a hand-made, pre-shrunk Valentine. Families are invited to create beautiful jewelry, key chains, and other Valentine’s Day gifts for their loved ones.Children will receive their first 2 sheets of blank Shrinky Dinks free, additional sheets will be available to purchase for 50 cents each.

African American Aviators Tour. 1pm. College Park Aviation Museum. College Park.
A tour to learn about aviation history in Prince George’s County, including the pilots who gained national and local fame.

Tucker Road Sweetheart Soiree. 5-7pm. Tucker Road Community Center. Fort Washington.
Everyone is invited to enjoy an evening of fun with your special one. This grand event will be filled with music, dancing, arts & crafts, games, and sweet treats. Top it all off with a photo opportunity for you and your sweetheart. All Ages. Fee: $5-$6

Teddy Bears’ Picnic. College Park Arts Exchange. College Park. 3pm.

Bring your favorite stuffed animals to the Teddy Bears’ picnic.  Stories, singing, making valentines, picnic and parade inside the Old Parish House.

Explore the wonders of winter and ice through a variety of art projects, pretend play, investigations, and more!
