Family Campfire
Watkins Park Nature Center
7:30 – 9:00 pm; $3 Residents/$4 Non-Residents
Ages 2 & up
Enjoy nature tales and roasted marshmallows. Bring hot dogs if you like. Patrons will be notified of weather-related cancellations. Join a naturalist at our outdoor amphitheater as we read a nature story, meet a live animal, and roast marshmallows. Parents MUST also be registered for this program.campfire

Touch-a-Truck
Regency Furniture Stadium – Waldorf
10:00 am – 3:00 pm; $7 Adults/$3 Children (Ages 1 and up)/ Children (Under 1) – Free
Touch-a-Truck is a unique and interactive community event that provides families with the opportunity to touch, learn, and explore trucks, construction vehicles, cars, public safety equipment as well as to meet those who protect, serve, and build our Southern Maryland community. This event also features special performances, local food vendors, face painting, games, a special appearance by Elsa (from Frozen) and concludes with attendees enjoying the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs baseball team taking on the Somerset Patriots.touch-a-truck1

Scholarly Munchkins Early Literacy Program – FREE

The Scholarly Munchkins Early Literacy Program is or young scholars ages 2-6 to develop their skills and abilities through various fun activities that help stimulate the mind and create a foundation of the fundamental skills needed to succeed in the early stages of learning. Children and the parents will participate in various math and reading activities that relate to the newly introduced Common Core Standards.

Preschool STEAM Program: Full STEAM Ahead – FREE

Preschool children and their caretakers are invited to visit the artLAB at Annmarie Garden for hands-on investigations and challenges!  Each session will help children explore, observe, ask questions, and make predictions about the world around them as they create and play.  We’ll investigate a variety of concepts in STEAM— science, technology, engineering, art, and math!  Join us for these fun and imaginative sessions that will get your child excited about learning. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers!

Bowie Heritage Day – FREE
City of Bowie – Multiple Sites
Noon – 4:00 pm
Celebrate the City of Bowie at all city sites for a host of activities and a LOT of fun! Belair Stable will feature the Durham Station Bluegrass Band, free pony rides, hands on activities for kids, and a chance to explore Bowie’s horse history. Bowie’s Big Purple Barn will be bringing rescued horses and “Ruby,” the famous chicken! Belair Mansion will be open for tours and will feature a chamber music concert by the Capitol Reeds at 12:30 and the Blue Sky Puppet Theater will be performing “The Three Pigs” at 2:30 p.m. The Bowie Railroad Museum will host the Ntrack Modelers from Baltimore and The Lego Lady and her train set up.
