My Kids Eat What Presented by Moms with Tots – FREE
Waldorf, MD

MWT_Nutrition_EventMoms with Tots is super excited to partner with Our Babies Matter (Minority Partners and Charles County Dept of Health) to create a fun and unique event promoting family nutrition! This event is for expecting parents and children 6 and under (siblings welcome).
The purpose of “My Kids Eat What?” is to educate families about the benefits of child nutrition. Don’t worry, this is not your ordinary boring workshop. In this workshop, almost activity will be hands-on! Children will participate in crafting, sampling foods, dancing and even be a part of a puppet show! Parents will have the chance to share ideas and tips with one another and talk to professionals in the health field. Thinking about making your own baby food? Learn new recipes and taste them first hand!

Fun Fest Crustacean Celebration – FREE
Regency Furniture Stadium – Waldorf
April 1; 10 am-4pm
Join the Blue Crabs for the 8th Annual Fan Fest!  There will be live music and attractions throughout the ballpark, and this is the first chance for fans to meet the 2015 Blue Crabs team. e Fan Fest will also feature plenty of activities for even the youngest Blue Crabs fans!  Kids are invited to play on the inflatables in the Kid Zone for free!  A full-team autograph session will take place on the concourse at 11:30 am.Southern_Maryland_Blue_Crabs_(team_logo)

Weekend Interpretation on the Farm – FREE
National Colonial Farm/Pisctaway Park – Accokeek
April 11; 10am – 4pm
Each month, the National Colonial Farm at the Accokeek Foundation invites visitors to examine a different current-day environmental issue through the lens of history. They will have fun learning some of the lost arts of homesteading, while also coming to understand that colonial people had environmental challenges too.

Commerford Zoo Kids Fun Fair
Showplace Arena – Upper Marlboro
April 11-12; 10 am-7 pm (Sat.)/ 10 am-6 pm (Sun) 
Bring the kids out to see elephants, camels, ponies, kangaroos, and other exotic animals. Ride down the super-slide, carouseponyridesignl, and other fun activities. Indoor Kids Fun Fair & Zoo. Free ticket coupons will be available at Box Office/ Single & Value Pack Ride Tickets are available starting at $1.50 each

 

 

 

6th Annual Fairies in the Garden-A magical fairy house and gnome home exhibit -FREE
Annmarie Sculpture Gardens & Arts -Solomon’s
April 10 – September 7
Enjoy a magicalious exhibit of more than 50 handmade fairy and gnome homes scattered through the sculpture garden. Visit the Arts Building to borrow a costume (or purchase one in the Gift Shop), grab a guide, and start your journey!

Full STEAM Ahead – a free program for preschool age kids! -FREE
Annmarie Sculpture Gardens & Arts -Solomons
 April 12, 1-4pm — “Fun with Physics” (reservations not required)
Preschool children and their caretakers are invited to visit the artLAB at Annmarie Garden for hands-on investigations and challenges!  Each session will help children explore, observe, ask questions, and make predictions about the world around them as they create and play.  We’ll investigate a variety of concepts in STEAM— science, technology, engineering, art, and math!  Join us for these fun and imaginative sessions that will get your child excited about learning. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers!


DC Cherry Blossom Events

Cherry Blossom Parade
April 11
Time: 10 AM – Noon
Location: Constitution Avenue – From 7th to 17th streets, NW (map)
Cost: Starting at $20 for Grandstand Seating. Standing along the Parade route from Constitution Avenue between 9th and 15th streets, NW is FREE and open to the public. Arrive early for the best views.
Tickets: Individual (starting at $20) and Group tickets (10 or more) are on sale

One of DC’s largest spectator events, the energy-filled Parade runs for 10 blocks along iconic Constitution Avenue. Giant colorful helium balloons, elaborate floats, marching bands from across the country, celebrity entertainers, and performers burst down the Parade route in a grand spectacle of music and showmanship seen only once a year during the Festival. The steps of the National Archives serve as an exciting performance backdrop, and vibrant costumes and blossom-inspired décor create the look of nation’s premier springtime parade.

2015 Peak Bloom Predication Dates: April 11 – 14, 2015

Time: March 28 – April 12; Open Daily, 10 AM – 7 PM
Location: Welcome Area at the Tidal Basin Stage – 1501 Maine Avenue, SW (Map)
Cost: FREE
The welcome center offered by the National Park Service and its partners provides visitor services, first aid, food, souvenirs, books, and more. Park rangers and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the Festival. Visit the National Cherry Blossom Festival tent in the Paddle Boat Parking Lot for fun interactive entertainment, official merchandise, and more.
