Be Art Smart with Lorina Harris!

We’ve had the fortune of participating in family art classes with Lorina Harris, owner of Art Smart Studio, over the past few months. Always presenting engaging topics in fun ways that appeal to all the senses and all ages, Lorina has a wealth of knowledge about the arts and is truly a gem in our community. During our past few classes we explored patterns, shape and form, line of sight, and creating with natural materials. We have played with shadows, made paint from plants, used sand, flowers, herbs and spices to create a variety of masterpieces!

Lorina has taught to children of all ages, both in the Netherlands and here in the United States. In the past she has taught at the College of Southern Maryland’s Kids College and has led an art program for homeschooled students. She now has her own in-home studio in the Bryans Road area. Lorina currently serves on the Charles County Arts Alliance and can be seen doing all sorts of family-friendly art workshops at La Plata community festivals as well as the Charles County Fair. Lorina offers weekly parent-child classes, as well as classes for adults, homeschooled children and private group workshops. Lorina provides challenging but fun projects, allowing individuals to express their creative abilities and encouraging each to appreciate the entire creative process. Her positivity, worldliness and professionalism make Lorina invaluable and she can provide unique, meaningful, educational opportunities to both children and adults alike.

Upcoming Classes (THIS WEEK)

Join Lorina this Friday, November 13, from 11am-1pm for her monthly Sketch Excursion at the National Air and Space Museum. Want to learn how to more accurately capture what you see on paper? Lorina will be your guide, have the materials, and the know-how to share. Just need to bring $10 per person,(cash or card) a bag lunch or snack if you wish, and the desire to learn. This is a great supplement to your art obligation for Home Educators!
