Family Bucket List..Have you Made One?
New Year, New Bucket List
Now that our kids are a little older, we’ve decided to start the family bucket list. During dinner, we went around the table allowing each person, big and small, to come up with new adventures for the year. Not sure what I was expecting but we told them that they must choose activities we’d never done before. Okay, here’s our list..
- Visit at least 2 orchards. Since fruit is seasonal, we’ll go once in the Spring and once in the Fall. If you’re in the DC area, we put together a great list of the most popular spots for fruit picking.
- Camping. I hope this really means glamping but I’m willing to take one for the team. We look forward to renting a cabin in Forest State Park, Jellystone or Treehouse Camp.
- Hiking. The Hubs and I hiked at Great Falls National Park and we loved it.
- Fishing. I think we’ll be charting a boat for this full day excursion.
- Go inside the upside down house at Wonderworks in Orlando or Myrtle Beach. Enough said.
- Laser Tag. This may seem dull to some but since the Littles have never been, they are amped-up.
- Go on a Cruise. Yeah, this was my item!
- Go to Hershey Park and stay at one of the luxurious Hershey Hotels.
- Go to New York and visit American Girl Place.
- Amtrak and go somewhere, anywhere! Kids under the age of 2 ride free and for kids 2-12 it’ 50% off.
- Indoor sky diving at IFLY. This will be epic!!
- Take a break and relax in the beautiful Massanutten.
- Revisit the Virginia Safari Park in Shenandoah. I know I said new adventures but they wouldn’t let this one go.
I am really excited about completing all of our bucket list items but I need prayer for some of them (camping). Now that we’ve shared our list, let us know what your plans are for 2017!
Happy New Year and Happy Planning!
-Shelly
My boys are still young, but I’m going to ask them what activities they’d like to do as a family. We usually go to museums and festivals, but we’ve never gone camping as family before. I’m hoping that we can visit Sesame Place this year. A cruise is also on the list!
I would just ask them to see what they say. Or even ask them where they want to go or what’s your favorite food and go from there.
We’ve done several of these and had fun. We camped at Jelly Stone park. I do want to try iFly so bad.
I’m not about the camp life but I’m going to give it a try!
My girls are only 3 and 2 months so I can’t do much with them yet but once they both are a bit older I definitely want to do a bucket list!
My kids are 4 and 5 so this year they we’re finally ready!
I love this bucket list! I still have tiny people (2 and 9 months) but am still making a reasonable bucket list for them. Top of my list is Disney! lol
Aw what a cute family bucketlist. Trying so hard to do a family cruise I know we would love it!I didnt know about the Amatrak kid discounted and free info!
This is a cool idea to incorporate the little one into the family bucket list. I was planing on going to see the house before i had to cancel my vacation for work :-(I would love to ride the Amtrak, never rode before. Good luck on accomplishing the family bucket list
That sounds like a fun adventure! Your family will have great memories to look back on.
I look forward to keeping them involved on our family adventures!
That’s a great bucket list! I think the only things so far on my family bucket list is a cruise with the kids, vacation in Destin, and go to Medieval Times! But I would love to do the indoor sky diving!
Marsha,
My son came up with iFly! I can only imagine how this is going to go! LOL
This is a great list of adventures! I’ll have to look into the safari park you mentioned. I’ve never heard of it but it sounds like it’s right up my alley. Hershey is on my list too. I loving seeing an outdoorsy family!
Lauren,
OMG, the safari park is the BOMB!! We can’t wait to return.
Haven’t made one, but I do have many things I would like to try and do this year. I am sure as time goes I will add more.
I think we may add more too but my goal is to stick the ones we have and write the others as a bonus!
I love your list. For my girls birthday this year we went camping, but it rained the entire time. I was so ready to go home, but I put on my happy face for them. I am also sure that your kids will LOVE Hershey, we took our girls and they still talk about it 2 years later.
Elle, I couldn’t imagine it raining the whole time. If that happens, I’m never going again!
