Getting the Scoop on the Exotic, Efficient, Eco-Friendly at the Washington Auto Show

Can you just close your eyes for a minute and bob your head to your favorite car tunes? That was my feeling when I entered into the Washington Auto Show. I’m talking the feeling of picking any car I wanted, all the high end features, music blasting and no kids in the back seat. Yes!!! Okay, I couldn’t blast the music or take the cars home but I did get a chance to drive the new Chevy Volt with high end features and there were NO KIDS in the back. Hey, you can’t have it all!

From luxury to concept cars, the Washington Auto Show has completely taken over the Washington DC Convention Center! Whether you have car fanatics in your family or just looking to see new trends coming down the pike, there is plenty to enjoy for everyone. In my case, I wanted to check out the concept cars, electric cars and 7 passenger vehicles. That would be the car I wish to have, one that would stop me from going to the gas station so much and the one that would possibly make me look like the next soccer mom. It was my plan to venture out and come back home a car expert! I mean every husband dreams of their wife talking “car talk” right?

Here’ My Spill:

Point #1: Electric cars have given the word “efficiency” a new meaning. Case and point, the new Volt by Chevy has a 1.5L direct-injected, high efficiency engine that promises drivers up to 420 miles with a full charge and a full take of gas! Be on the lookout for a wider selection of hybrids for trucks and crossovers. Oh, the places we can go.

Point #2: For years, people with pick-up trucks had to keep at step stool in the bed of the truck so that they could hop in and out. Now introducing the automatic running boards. Just tap the end of the running board with your foot and it’ll drop down from the cab or move forward toward the cargo bed. I hear the pick-up owners singing the praise of car makers.

Point #3: Apple CarPlay is the way of the future. The Apple CarPlay allows you to interact and use special features of your iPhone and Android like voice text messaging, playing your favorite songs, step by step directions, and much more. All you need to do is hook up your phone, touch the screen every now and again and go. Apple CarPlay is now available in over 100 models.

Point #4: The Alfa Romero Giulia and Chevy Stingray will have you drooling with their classy, yet sexy body style. These two high performance vehicle get the medals for best in show. I was sold when I learned about the Alfa DNA Pro. With this feature, drivers can select their level of driving experience using 1 of 4 driving options, which includes getting up to 191 mph in racing mode! Can you say wow??? Dream Car, Check!

Point #5: You don’t ever have to leave home without a solid Wi-Fi connection. Chevy cars and trucks are leading the way with 4G LTE Wi-Fi at your service. Long are the days of the kids screaming, “Are we there yet?” With access to your family’s favorite apps, you’ll have peace in quite every time you buckle in. The best part about this is that you don’t have to get a monthly data plan. You are free to get a pay as you go plan at any time!

I had a blast at the Washington Auto Show and I definitely learned a lot! I look forward to the whole family attending next year and making it a tradition.
