Easter and Spring Break Edition

It’s finally spring and the kids are on Spring Break! The weather is nice and it’s the perfect time to get outdoors. We are embarking on Easter and there are events breaking out all over the DMV area. You can take a stroll along the Tidal Basin to see the Cherry Blossoms or grab a basket and hit up one of the many Easter egg hunts. Whichever you choose, have a great weekend with your family!

Nationals Pep Rally at the Capital Wheel & Outdoor Movie– FREE

National Harbor
March 25; 4:30 – 5:30pm
Get your game face on and show your #Natitude for the Nationals Baseball Team! Meet the Presidents and watch them race! Don’t forget to wear your Nats gear and you’ll receive a discount for a ride on the Capital Wheel. Kites Over Clarksburg – FREE

Kites Over Clarksburg is an annual, fun, FREE family event. Bring canned goods to donate to local food banks (unexpired, please) and get a raffle ticket to win prizes from local sponsors! Crafts, games, and kites are available at the event. This event takes place rain or shine.  Sponsored by The Clarksburg Foundation and Montgomery Parks.

Easter Bunny Meet and Greet – FREE

11am – 1pm
Hop on over to Whole Foods Market in Columbia this Saturday to meet the Easter Bunny. He will be posing for pictures from 11am-1pm This is a free event, bring the whole family! Guess how many jelly beans in our jar for a chance to win a $25 gift card!

Spring Break Lolly-palooza! Drop-in Event
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center – Solomons

Celebrate the seasonal re-opening of our Fairy Lolly creative play area with extra-special activities! Drop in each day for something different. Activities take place in the Lolly, but stop by the artLAB and the Nature Nook for added fun, too! No registration required–just drop in! Regular admission fees apply, Members FREE, Children 5-under FREE.

Spring Break Fun – Birds of the Marsh

There is something scheduled almost every day at the museum. There are trained docents in the Discovery Room at the touch tank, in the Skates and Rays exhibit, and in the Paleontology Prep Lab.

Family Day presented with the National Building Museum – FRE

Experience hours of free fun with hands-on activities that celebrate the Festival’s campaign of “Conne
cting People to Parks” and enliven the soaring space of the National Building Museum. All ages are encouraged to step into spring by participating in stations that showcase activities that could be replicated at a park, like playing bocce or flying a kite. Visitors also learn about Zen gardens and explore the elements of landscape architecture and design. The National Park Service will present activities and film, highlighting and bringing awareness of their Centennial Celebration.

Pristine Seas: The Ocean’s Last Wild Places –FREE

Journey across the world’s ocean with Sala on his mission to find and protect these last wild places. The exhibit will feature stunning photography and behind-the-scenes expedition images from the Arctic to the tropics as well as an immersive underwater video wall.

National Cherry Blossom Festival
Washington, DC – Constitution Ave.
Now – April 16
One of DC’s largest spectator events, the energy-filled Parade runs for 10 blocks along iconic Constitution Avenue. Giant colorful helium balloons, elaborate floats, marching bands from across the country, celebrity entertainers, and performers burst down the Parade route in a grand spectacle of music and showmanship seen only once a year during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. #CherryBlossomDC

Light City – Festival of Lights and Ideas

The inaugural Light City Baltimore features the 1.5 mile BGE Light Art Walk with 50 attractions including illuminated visual artworks, street theater, musical performances and concerts. The original artworks are by local, regional, national and international artists selected by a jury through a call of entry held in the spring of 2015. Daytime programming features Light City U, four ticketed innovation conferences dedicated to powering social change.
