I think we’ll get a break from the rain this weekend!! Can I get a Whoop Whoop?!? There are many things going on in Southern Maryland this weekend but here are some of my favorites!!


Friday

KidCare will be staying open until 10:00 pm on Fridays through the Summer!
Catch a movie or enjoy dinner with a special someone while the kids watch their own movie, play some games, or do some artwork. No preregistration required.

Annapolis Irish Festival

Sharkfest
Calvert Marine Museum
1o am -5 pm; Adults- $9/Kids 5 and under – FREE
Sharks are one of the most fascinating creatures; the ultimate apex predator of the marine world! Live sharks and Chesapeake Bay native Atlantic sturgeon will be featured in the Corbin Pavilion for Sharkfest. The museum is full of hands-on opportunities to explore the diversity of sharks and their remarkable history on planet Earth. Rocknoceros will perform original rock music for children at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. sharkfest

Superhero Visit – FREE
La Plata Library

First come, first served due to Fire Marshal capacity restrictions. It’s Superhero Time! Join these amazing Superheroes to ask questions about their awesome talents, get photos and learn about how Superheroes learn to do the right thing – from standing up to bullies, to listening to their Superhero moms and dads.superheroes

Calvert Library Prince Frederick – FREE
3 pm -4 pm

Lego enthusiasts will meet monthly to hear a story followed by a Lego building session. Each session will close with sharing time. Legos supplied by library.

Annmarie Sculpture Gardens
1 pm – 4 pm
Preschool children and their caretakers are invited to visit the artLAB at Annmarie Garden for hands-on investigations and challenges! Each session will help children explore, observe, ask questions, and make predictions about the world around them as they create and play.

Step into the hilarity as we set out to tackle gravity, trajectory, and a variety of science concepts with comic results. For this year’s Summer Reading Program theme, we take a playful look at our hero, Sir Isaac Newton, the father of physics. We explore what his 3 Laws of Motion have to do with flying props, spinning things, and object manipulation. Everyone will be amazed by the tricks and amused by the antics in a smile-a-long, laugh-a-long, interactive good time. Drop-In.

Superhero Party!

Potomac Library; 10 am-11:30am
Come dressed in your best superhero outfit and join us for a very special story time with books and crafts and games. After hearing some Superhero stories, kids will participate in Superhero Olympics, solving problems and showing their superhero strength. Finally, finish the morning by crafting your own superhero cape to take home for your heroic adventures through the summer.

The Bubble Lady
July 20, 2015
La Plata Library (10:30 am); Waldorf West (2 pm)
It’s the magic of bubbles! Join us for some bubble fun where you’ll see these impressive bubbles: giant bubbles (up to 5 feet in diameter), long bubbles (up to 18 feet long) and smoke bubbles (made with dry ice and hot water). Audience members are invited to hold smoke bubbles and blow giant bubbles to the ceiling. The finale includes putting audience members inside a giant bubble.
