The week has been a bit rainy but it was perfect for our little ones to grab their rain boots and jump in the muddy puddles! I’ve picked a few notable weekend events but don’t forget to check the calendar page for more happenings.

Friday
The Magic Show of Drew
Playground Cafe, Ft. Washington
Two Show Times: 10:30 am & 6:30 pm
Cost: $8 in advance; $10 at the door
Come out for a magical day at Playground Cafe! Your ticket will include not only the magic show, but also a full hour of play after!
Minecraft for Kids
La Plata Library, La Plata
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Ages: 6-11
Players will work as a group to build and solve puzzles in the virtual world of Minecraft. Using an in-house server, players communicate verbally and in chat to interact through the game and create collaboratively. Registration is limited.
First Free Fridays – FREE
Calvert Marine Museum, Solomons
6:00 pm
Museum and Drum Point Lighthouse are open and FREE to the public. GeeZers will perform live music in the Harms Gallery from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. FREE 30-minute Tennison Cruises.

Drop-In Story Time – FREE

Drop in and share the excitement and love of reading with your child. Each story time will include reading books, songs & music, dancing, flannel board activities and a super fun craft at the end!
Truck Touch 2015 -FREE
RFK Stadium – DC
8:00 am – 1:00 pm
The public is invited to attend a free, citywide “Truck Touch” Saturday, June 6, 2015, from 8 am to 1 pm at RFK Stadium, Lot 7. A host of DC government agencies will present and demonstrate nearly 30 vehicles used to clean and repair streets, change traffic lights, collect refuse, clear snow, provide emergency services, administer mobile health care, and more.
Load ‘n Go Truck
Home Depot Stores
9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Ages: 3 to 12
Come learn how to build a Load ‘n Go Truck at local Home Depot Stores. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
BOOKS, BOYS N’CUTS
The Barber Lounge for Men – Waldorf
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Forever Free Books is launching BOOKS, BOYS N’CUTS at The Barber Lounge for Men. This event is free to the public and any boy that attends will receive a free haircut between 11am-12 noon. Goodie bags, snacks, FREE books and a chance to win a family 4 pack for a Southern Maryland Blue Crabs home game (drawing at 1pm).

Children of all ages are invited to a celebration of Southern Maryland’s rich agricultural heritage at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum! Enjoy new attractions as well as old favorites like oxen carts and pony rides, live entertainment, face pairing, a magic show, antique tractor parade, craft activities, petting zoo and more!
