 This weekend is full of events all around Southern Maryland! 


 October 3

Children ages 3-5 can learn all about living sand dollars, hear a story, play a game and make a take-home sand dollar craft at KIDS! The Secret Life of Sand Dollars at the Bayside History Museum.

October 4

Head over to Cobb Island and join in the celebration of the migration of the Monarch Butterfly over the Potomac River to Mexico.  The butterflies will be tagged and released along with face painting and craft stations, children’s butterfly games, storybook readings, milkweed relay races, and an adult and child butterfly costume contest.

4th Annual Bay Harvestfest. The streets overlooking the Chesapeake Bay will be adorned with festive, fall decorations. Craft and food vendors will line the streets to sell their fare. Gather on the pavilion to enjoy live music throughout the day.

It’s pumpkin decorating time during the Annual Great Pumpkin Event! Craft the perfect jack-o-lantern your local Michaels craft stores.

Home Depot is offering its free Kids Workshop where kids will learn how to build an EMS Truck.

Shlagel Farm opens for the autumn harvest season. Enjoy a family wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, visit the petting zoo and make a scarecrow.  The younger children will love the straw maze and corn box!

Kick off the Harvest Season with a visit to Kasper’s Kastle for the Fall Extravaganza!  For the admission price, you will have an all inclusive fall fun day on the farm!  Get ready for an exciting day featuring hayrides, a petting zoo (the only USDA, walk-in petting zoo in all of Southern Maryland!), a Halloween Barn “Kasper’s Kastle” (suitable for youngsters), a bag of candy from Kasper himself, face painting, a hay bale maze, a pumpkin patch, and another hayride back to the parking area!

47th Annual Blessing of the Fleet Weekend Festival.  All day Saturday: live music, free boat rides to St. Clement’s Island, tractor ride island tours, Kids Fun Zone with  facepainting and free pony rides and the Blue Sky Puppet Theatre and The Great Magic Show with Reggie Rice.  Sunday:  free tours of the lighthouse and Dove.  Live music, kids’ bike giveaways, Waterman of the Year Award and more!

October 5

Watkins Regional Park for the Kinderfest. Children activities and entertainment for the whole family including the Robotic Ryan Show, KidFit, Bird Shows, clowns and musical entertainment and more.

Take the dog to Bark in the Park at the Charles County Fairgrounds. The entire family will love the watch doggy games like Doggy Bowling, Ball Waddle, Spoon Race & more!!


Ongoing Fall Events

Fall Fest, Davidsonville. Sept. 27-Oct. 26, 2014 Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-4pm. Rides and games, fall-themed seminars, workshops and more. Free. Homestead Gardens, Davidsonville.

Butler’s Pumpkin Festival, Germantown. Starts September 27 and runs every weekend in October. 10am-5pm. Corn maze, pumpkin cannon, food and farm market. $11. Children 2 and under free. Butler’s Orchard, Germantown.

Zekiah Farms.  10 acre maze with over 3 miles of pathways, hay maze, hayride, maze challenge, face painting, farm animals, straw pit, pumpkin painting, recreation area with games, and covered picnic area.

Middletown Farm. Saturdays & Sundays – September 20, 2014, through November 2, 2014. oin us for a fun-filled day!  Our fall festival features barnyard animals, an 8-acre corn maze, a kiddie corn maze, and a tractor-pulled hayride to the pumpkin patch. $10, ages 2& under Free. 13130 Cedar Hill Place, Waldorf, MD.
