What a beautiful weekend it shall be! Spend some time outdoors picking strawberries at one of these farms or check out a free movie. Most of the events are free this week so pack up the snack bags and head out!

Climb a Tree

Natural Arboretum

Bring your children ages 4-14 to climb trees just like professional arborists. Each participant will have an opportunity to ascend into the tree by the use of arborist harness (saddle) and rope.

Kent Island Day
Kent Island Main Street

Kent Island Day commemorates the founding of Kent Island in 1631 with a parade down Main Street, historic exhibits, displays, activities, food, vendors, costumes, activities for kids and crafts.

Preakness Celebration Balloon Festival
Howard County Fairgrounds

FREE ($20 Parking Fee)
Week-long series of special events celebrating the annual running of the Preakness Stakes, Baltimore’s “Super Bowl” and the 2nd jewel in thoroughbred racing’s prestigious Triple Crown. Family friendly festival with hot air balloons, specialty crafts, entertainment, and more.

Kid Kana-Con
Patuxent Community Center – Upper Marlboro

Whip into your costume, pop on your mask, and swoop on in for a comic blast! Enjoy music, games, raffles, give-a-ways and crafts; participate in the costume contest, and challenges.

Big Bubba’s Fishing Rodeo
School House Pond

Cost: $10/$13
Park naturalists and rangers assist youth in learning the basics of fishing. Participants receive a free fishing rod and goodie bag to keep. Bait is provided as well and all participants are entered to win door prizes! Ages 6-10

Summer Kick-Off Carnival

Water Balloon Throw and Oily Water Balloon Toss, sidewalk Races, Crazy Relay Race, Football Toss, Hula Hoop Contest, and Silly Basketball Games, as well as arts and crafts!

It’s Nickelodeon Day featuring PAW PATROL! Kids will be able to meet & take pictures with MARSHALL and SKYE!

The Humane Society of Charles County

Cost: $7 per adoption
Join the adorable Girl Scout Troop 823 as they host a “Stuffed Pet Adoption” event. The Girl Scouts will be working towards their “Bronze Award Project” and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Charles County.
