Relics and Prospect

Montpelier Arts Center – Laurel

Montpelier Arts Center is proud to honor Black History Month through an exhibition of contemporary artwork that reflects the lives and perspectives of the African-American experience. Using symbolism and found objects, artists explore the journey and history of being Black through painting, mixed media, and sculpture.

Fossil Deposit Interpretation
January 20; 12 –  4pm
Dinosaur Park – Laurel

Dinosaur Park is a 41-acre park in Laurel, Maryland, featuring a rare deposit of fossils from the Cretaceous Period (144 to 65 million years ago). On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, you can join paleontologists and volunteers on-site to interpret fossil deposits. Fun for all ages!

Penguin Appreciation Day!

Celebrate Penguin Appreciation Day with a penguin! A special guests from the MD Zoo will talk about their penguin conservation efforts and why the zoo has made it a goal to help rebuild penguin colonies in South Africa.

Paws in the Park

Free Family Sunday: Birds of Africa
The Baltimore Museum of Art

Hands-on art-making workshops in response to works on view and fashion your own headdress.
Family workshops are held in the studio space of the Joseph Education Center, located on the first floor of the Museum. Space is limited.
