Ongoing Activities to Enjoy

Totsicles – Capital Clubhouse, Waldorf
Every Friday until May, 10:30am -11:30am
Cost: $7
First steps on the frozen surface for children ages 2-5 and an adult care-giver. Explore the ice in shoes (closed toe shoes – no sandals or flip-flops) or skates (for participating children only/rentals are included in the admission). The ice arena is set up with games and activities for self guided fun designed to enhance motor skill development as well as develop comfort with the frozen element. After the ice time participants enjoy a cup of hot cocoa while listening to a story read aloud in our warm lobby.

Play & Learn with Elite – Elite Gymnastics, Waldorf
Every Mon, Wed and Fri. 11:00 am -11:45 am, Sat. 12 noon – 12:45pm
Cost: $5, Ages: Birth-5
Drop in Program. Encourage development through play and learning with our gymnastics equipment and activities. From sensory stimulation, fun exercise and storytelling Play & Learn with Elite will deep your little one active. Each session will end with a snack.

Hands-on science activities for the littlest scientists, ages 3-5. Read, experiment, and create with a new topic each month! In January we will focus on counting and measuring with a pizza theme. Join us for a pizza story, no-bake playdough, and pizza activities.

Who doesn’t love the world of trains!! All aboard for a wonderful adventure for your little train enthusiast. Enjoy special train activities, “Thomas the Train” video, puzzles, and games. Participants will be given a conductor hat, bandana, and train whistle

Dream to Fly – James E. Richmond Science Center, Waldorf
January 23-27, 6:00pm and 7:15pm
Cost: $10 Adults; Children (4-12)/ Seniors (60+)/ Military $8, CCPS Employees/ Children (3 & under)
Discover the mystery of flight with Leonardo da Vinci, Montgolfier brothers, Wright brothers and other inventors. Experience the adventure and find out how this immense and challenging dream, for which mankind has strived since the beginning of history came true.
Dream to Fly is a poetic story about the history of aviation. The aim of the film is to present the development of aviation through the ages in an interesting an innovative way. It presents the milestones on our route to conquering the skies – both in terms of technological breakthroughs, as well as our perceptions on flying itself.

Missoula Children’s Theatre Presents “Aladdin” – Harmony Hall Region Center, Fort Washington

For Aladdin it’s not easy to find a magic lamp but it’s even harder to get a date! It’s a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade, and even Sinbad the Sailor, as Aladdin journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave of (not-so-great) Wonders. Along his way Aladdin seeks answers and advice from wise Genies, a powerful Sultan, and his own Mother to find a way to meet the Princess. However, even with the lamp in hand, Aladdin will have to learn that it takes more than a wish to make a good impression. Full of memorable characters, from lost Penguins to talking Palm Trees, this is an adventure worthy of 1001 laughs.

National Kazoo Days Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Annapolis

Chesapeake Children’s Museum is celebrating the Kazoo also known as the hummophone or merliton.  This instrument has been used since ancient times in Africa. The American history of kazoos picks up in the 1840’s when, legend has it, an African-American man by the name of Alabama Vest shared his hand crafted version with a German-American clock maker named Thaddeus von Glegg. Kazoo-making materials and instruction will be on hand.

Looking for a fun activity for your children? Bring them to our gymnastics workshops! These workshops are an open play time for your child to explore gymnastics in a safe and fun environment. Workshops are not structured classes, but open play! Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parents Night Out– Smallwood Community Center, Waldorf
January 30, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Cost: Resident Fee: $5; Non-Resident: $6; Ages: 5+
Is it time for a Parents Night Out? Don’t worry about who can watch the kids Friday night…take them to Smallwood Community Center! Kids will make a craft, play games, watch a movie, and enjoy a snack. Space is limited, advance registration recommended.

Health FairAllentown Splash Park Heath Fair, Fort Washington

Enjoy a health fair featuring health screenings, nutritional seminars, fitness classes and assessments. Come out to experience more of the event’s activities.
