This weekend will be Blazing HOTT but I’ve got you covered. Grab some cold drinks, pack up the kids and see what your community has to offer! From a Pizza Pirate Cruise at the Calvert Marine Museum to Yoga in the Park, there are many family activities to choose from!

 FRIDAY

Little Jumpers
Pump it Up – Waldorf
10 am – 12 pm; $5.50
This special open jump is for our guests aged 1-6 years old only. If you’re worried about older kids running around the smaller ones, this is the perfect time for your little jumpers.

Friday Night Concert Series: Federal Brass of The U.S. Army Field Band -FREE
La Plata Town Hall – La Plata
7 pm
The weekly concerts take place on the lawn at La Plata Town Hall. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for sitting. Kids’ Zone, allows parents to enjoy the concert while keeping an eye on the little ones.

Family Skate Night
Capital Clubhouse – Waldorf
6:45 pm – 8:15 pm; $20 for a family of 4 (includes skates)
Come enjoy a night of family fun on the ice. Great for children 2 and up!skate


SATURDAY

Art for TOTS
Yellow Door Studios – Leonardtown
9:30 am – 11:00 am; $10
Art for TOTS is a class where your little one can explore their world by getting their hands into all sorts of art making! Guided by Michele Cabrera, children will paint, sculpt, glue, cut, mix, paste and stack. This is a class for kids who like to get messy! Drop In.

Geocache Bash – FREE

Have you ever wondered what geocaching is and how to do it? Are you a pro at geocaching and are looking for a new challenge? Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game. All Ages.

Art for Preschoolers – FREE

Art for preschoolers is for children ages 3-5 where they will learn to appreciate art by listening to an interactive story and then creating a craft related to the theme.

Spring Kids’ Festival
Regency Stadium
2 pm – 7 pm; $15
Come out to Regency Furniture Stadium for a day of music and family fun! This year’s festival will feature a concert by “The Dream Jam Band,” and “The Dirty Sock Fun Time Band”. Face painting, exciting raffles, ballpark fare, balloon artists, clowns and much, much more!spring fest recent news

Calvert Marine Museum – Solomons

Pirate Pizza Cruise. Dress like a pirate and eat pizza on board the Tennison. Arggggggh!! Registration required by Thursday, May 28.

Beltway BBQ Showdown/Saturday Festival & BBQ Competition 
Tucker Road Athletic Complex – Fort Washington
12 pm – 7 pm; Ages 13 & up: $3/person; Ages 4-12:  $2/person; 3 & under: Free
9th Annual Beltway BBQ Showdown contest highlights the art of barbecuing in Prince George’s County and the Mid-Atlantic region. Over 5,000 people will come to celebrate and enjoy the art, music and history of BBQ in PG County, Maryland. Due to limited on-site parking, FREE parking and a shuttle will be offered from Rosecroft Raceway. Please take advantage of this easy pick-up and drop-off service right at the entrance of the Showdown!

Homeschool Resource Fair – FREE
Waldorf West Library – Waldorf
9:30 am – 1:00 pm
Families who are considering homeschooling as an alternative option to public or private schools are invited to come and speak with local homeschool groups as well as organizers of local homeschool programs. Parents are also invited to swap curricula with other homeschooling parents.

Yoga in the Parks – FREE

Outdoor yoga classes in the parks! Learn basic yoga techniques and how to free your mind, body, and spirit in this popular fitness activity for all ages. yoga

Bikes & Trikes -FREE

For ages toddler to 5th grade. Helmets required for anyone riding a 2-wheel bike. Hot dogs, popcorn and sno cones with be available
