Meet a Mom Who Does It All: Amanda Enright

Mom of the Month: Amanda Enright

Owner of FeelEnright Counselingmoms who do it all - amanda

I met Amanda and her two wonderful daughters through a moms’ group several years ago. It has been a joy seeing her vision come to fruition as she transitioned from stay-at-home mom to working mom. Read on to learn more about this super motivated mama!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family:

Amanda: My name is Amanda Enright and I’m married with 2 funny, smart, caring, & beautiful daughters, Kaelyn & Brooke! My husband and I are originally from rural upstate NY and have lived in Maryland for the past 9 years; Southern Maryland for the past 5 1/2! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in private practice; FeelEnright Counseling. What I do is provide talk therapy, sometimes referred to as psychotherapy, to individuals and families in Southern Maryland! I have a Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling and take pride in having earned that while also entering into the crazy, unpredictable, exhausting, loving world of Motherhood! My husband is a tech geek and loves anything gadgety!! My oldest daughter has enjoyed dance and soccer and currently wants to be a fashion designer or chef when she gets older! My youngest daughter is full of spunk and zest for life and loves to dance and sing!

What inspired you to start and where do you find your passion to continue your business?

Amanda: I have a passion for helping others, which is what drove me towards the mental health field. I’ve had personal experiences that allowed me to see that if we ignore our mental health, there will be consequences! I believe in therapy and truly believe that it can help individuals grow and create the change in their lives that will help them to live a happy, fulfilling life! I’ve worked in the mental health field for 10+ years in various settings and knew all along that the ultimate goal was to open a private practice. My passion for helping people and the reward I get from watching people transform and grow continues to inspire me and motivate me to continue working with individuals in the community that need my help!

What does your business offer to the Southern Maryland community?

Amanda: My private practice, FeelEnright Counseling, is located in Charlotte Hall. I work with individuals, families, as well as, offer group therapy services. I engage with children, adolescents, and adults to help them overcome the issues they are experiencing that get in the way of living a happy, fulfilled life. Some of these include anxiety, depression, separation/divorce, family issues, behavioral modification, and improving self-esteem, to name a few! I run two group session especially for girls, 11-13 years and 14-17 years that aims to increase self-esteem and assertiveness skills. The thought is that they will learn to love themselves as they are and hone in on the skills necessary to stay true to themselves throughout the difficult time of adolescence and into adulthood!

How do you balance family life with work responsibilities?

Amanda: Finding a balance between working and family time is difficult and to be honest, I still struggle with it at times! I find myself overcome with that “mom guilt” when I’m getting ready for work and my youngest is requesting I play with her, but I’ve tried to remind myself that when my daughters see me going to work and being passionate about helping others thru my work; that is some great modeling for their future! I worked very hard and for a long time to earn my Masters degree and get to the point that I could open a private practice and I still very much enjoy that work. I tweak my work schedule when needed in order to chaperone school events for my oldest daughter or to accommodate appointments for my youngest, so the girls know that they are still my priority. I also try to schedule Mommy & Daughter date days as often as I can so that they still get some 1:1 time!

What are some of your favorite local spots to visit with your family?

Amanda: My family and I enjoy many of the parks and different restaurants here in Southern Maryland. I’d say that La Tolteca in La Plata is one of our favorite restaurants and Laurel Springs park is a favorite park to play at! We try to go up to DC at least once a year and try to hit up Anne Marie Sculpture Gardens a few times a year, especially the Fairy Festival!
